WHY DOES THE 4640, 4840 DEERES HAVE TO RUN A INTERCOOLER AND THE 1486, 1586 BINDERS DO NOT RUN INTERCOOLERS???????

Could it be that the IH engines flow better because they have the intake on one side and the exhaust on the other side of the cyl. head ?
I think most of the Deere's have them on the same side ?

they probably dont have to but a diesel engine will make more power with a innercooler than without one it gives the intake a cooler denser carge of air, i know innercooled vs non innercooled will make a performance difference on a big truck so it will probbably work the same on a tractor too

I always wondered why IH didnt use them. Deere, Ford and Allis all did. Helps the engine run cooler as well as making a denser charge for more power. Not always necessary but not a bad idea.

Case in 1969 introdused crossflow on there direct injection engines an the 504cu in engine in 4 wheel drive 2670did have a intercooler on it.
