been using frontline flea and tick on my dogs for 4 years now ,hardly ever find a tick stuck on them until this year ,they have had several on them and it's just starting tick season here, northwest wisconsin, any one else having problems,or any suggestions on what else to use? thanks

I'm tempted to turn a bunch of guineas loose in the areas around my pastures...... Ticks are murder this year. Have frontline on the dogs but the horses are ate up. Knew a guy that fed his dogs a little bit of sulphur everyday and said it kept ticks from sucking on them. Don't know if there was side effects.

Garlic helps deter ticks and fleas on both dogs and horses. It doesn't stop all of them, but does help and no side effects that I know of.

You may have to add it gradually to your horse's feed until they get used to the taste.

It ain't on the lable, but I dribbled a litte eprinex on my dogs back one time and the next morning his couch cusion on the front porch had a pile of dead ticks on it. Now I dribble a little on the back of his neck when I worm calves, when he gets ticks, calves get wormed again.

Not so far, but thanks for the heads up. A vet showed me a map years ago of where Lymes Disease and Heartworm was decades ago, and how much has spread in the last decade or so. Wow. Right, wrong, or indifferent, ban pesticides and insects spread and certainly have.

We just did our lab and golden yesterday again. But thanks for the heads up. If is that rough in Wisconsin, gonna be rough in Indiana on the Michigan border eventually.

I have used Frontline on my dog for the past 9 years. Up until this year have gotten one or two ticks per year but they were soon dead, only slightly dug into the skin.

This year in Mar, 3 ticks dug in deep and still alive. Apr double dose, 2 ticks dug in still alive.

Vet said they have to bite to kill but should not live long enough to dig in deep and continue to live like these last 5.

Something has changed, nearly 9 years bullet proof and now marginal? Vet has no answer.

What works for people? Every time I go to the barn, I have a tick or two.

We use frontline for the dogs. Fleas are more of a problem than ticks or maybe its cause the ticks fall off.

The horses don't have much trouble with ticks. When we see an occasional one, we pull it off. Maybe 1 or 2 a month. From spring through fall we use rabon blocks to control the flies. Maybe it helps with ticks too. They also get some fly spray on occasion.

we use heart guard plus monthly on ours never see any ticks or fleas also put hartz flea and tick down his back about midway thru month

Get ya a can of permethrin arthropod repellant. Spray your clothes and boots. This will eliminate your tick issues. Spray your dogs bed and let dry this will help with the control on him also.

You need to check yourself closely for ticks as a lady was diagnosed with Lymes disease. About 20 years ago it killed a game warden and they didn't know that much about it here in MD. Hal

I have been useing Frontline spray for the last 5 or 6 years and have not had a problem. I have used the little capsule before and have had problems with it. I have never had a problem with the spray but thanks for the heads up I also live in wisconsin west central. Bob

Dave sulpur is not allowed to be used in animal feed any longer here in the states.

Don't know where you could even find it to buy.

Think it had something to do with ground water.

We use to use it for flue med for hogs. But they took it away from us in the 80's

When I am going out in a tick area I spray arounf my boot tops and bottom of pants legs with deepwoods off. Works good as long as you don't sit in the weeds.

I was noticing the ticks in southern MN, and wondered if it was just me. I don't think I've gotten a tick out at the shop for the last 20 years.

This year I've found one every day I've been out there. Last time I sprayed my boots and legs with Deep Woods Off and still found one crawling on me.
