When I took the oil filter off there was a stick stuck into the filter.I'm thinking there should be a tube on the filter base that goes up into the filter.Maybe been lost in the past.Any help on this will be welcome. Thanks

Yes, there should be a hollow metal tube that sticks into the center of the filter. Without it you will not be filtering any oil and also will loose pressure. Allis used a bypass filtering system and the filter media is the only resistance to prevent all the oil form bypassing the engine. If you watch ebay you can probably get the entire filter bracket for a few bucks. Hope this helps.

I had the same issue with my Allis B. The link below should give you enough information to make your own.

The one I made seems to be working. I've have about 30 minutes of runtime on the engine and it's showing good pressure on the gauge.

Good luck.

Hoping you can help me. I am handling my father's estate. He has an Allis Chalmers tractor WD 45. It is a wide front end. Only numbers I can find are D23110 and AM6641FM. Neither of these look to be the serial number. I am trying to determine a value for estate purposes as we may have to sell it.

Anything you have to say would be helpful. Thanks

The unofficial Allis page is a good source.

The WD serial number may be on the top of the left rear axle housing. It should begin with WD.

A WD45 won't have a steel plate on the right side of the engine block and will have a curved shift lever.

Value depends on condition. $1200 for a working tractor and a little up if spit, polish, and internal rebuild.
