Older Kphler engines

I saw this once and I thought I saved the web site.Must not have. Looking for information on older Kohler Engines. Years of production, maybe also parts & service information. I think they are Korean War Surplus. Both are still pained O. D. Thanks in advance. J.

I have a late Fifties/Early sixties K-181 Kohler. I was wondering the year as the Serial Number DID NOT fit what was listed in the Kohler K-series service manual. I sent a high resolution digital photo of the Data Plate to Kohler. They said they could not date the engine from the Serial Number and had to use the Spec. No. Late 50's or Early 60's was as close as they could come.

I have an old I&T small engine manual dated in the early 50's somewhere. The early Kohler single cyl "K" engines were K 7 and K 12. I have a complete running K 12 engine. They are aluminum, not cast iron.

I worked in the engine division at Kohler in the late sixties and the K141, 161,181 & 241 were still a large part of production. In fact the K301 was fairly new at the time. I think they started in the early 50's.
