Which residents of Nebraska (or elsewhere) can name the three counties in Nebraska that are named after animals?






Antelope, Buffalo, and Garfield.
 
Interesting, there is a Lincoln county but it is not near Lincoln and in Iowa there is a Des Moines county that is not near Des Moines.
 
Anybody know what Custer's last words were at Big Horn?

Speaking of hooker - Just south of me is Hooker Oklahoma. They have a big sign out on the highway "Home of the Happy Hookers" and the school mascot is "horney Toad"
 
Actually, aside from Calamus Lake and Burwell (give or take 1000 ppl) they really dont have much other than ranches and cattle.
 
Kearney is in Buffalo County, not Kearney County.

Cherry County, Nebraska is larger than the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island combined.

My Dad was raised out in the sand hills in the 30s, Lived during the depression and dust storms, said he woke up one morning to see red dust all over everyting (Oklahoma soil), said he thought the word was on fire. Went out there one wet spring and was the most buetiful place on earth.
 
Here is more trivia, laced with a little Pawnee County History. When the Civil War ended, some northern vets, upon mustering out, were offered 160 acres each or some amount of cash. A guy named Bookwalter, thought the land was of more value than the cash and he had cash available. He gave a number of other vets money for their land and for decades there was much more land in the Bookwalter name in the county than in any other name.
