Anybody ever replace the main hydraulic pump (steering and bucket) on a 1962 Hough 30? Ours failed, and we are told it is obsolete/not available. Anybody ever find anything else that would work? Thanks!

You didn't say whether you'd looked into the possibility of your pump being rebuilt...or whether you've tried "obsolete" parts places like Minnpar...
My apologies if already considered but impossible.

Have you checked Tractor Supply? Depending on your shaft diameter and your inlet and outlet arrangement and your mounting, they may have a replacement pump. If not, however, you could try matching it to one at Northern Hardware.

Finding a replacement pump is just a matter of
research to find one with the same gals. per
minute, and pressure range. Of course you want to
match the shaft, but different coupler halfs
could be found, and adapters on the ports will
get you to the correct hose size. NOW COMES THE
big problem--Whatever caused the old pump to fail
can quickly ruin a new pump, so you've got to
flush the lines, clean the tank, replace the
filters, so that dirt, debris, and metallic
particles from the old failed pump don't get into
the new pump, and kill it in the first minute of
use. If you know the specs of your old pump, try
THE SURPLUS CENTER or BAILEYS for a replacement
