I think the first guys to ever eat those thing were pretty hungry. Or maybe they were just crazy cajuns!! You guys know any LaLondes?

I agree Flowers are nice ,

Question on the crayfish,

I like shrimp, Lobster don't have the flavor till you add it like butter sauces, are those the same as lobster flavor wise?

I like some Cajun cookin unless it is too hot.
I like the mix of sweet and hot.

I left southern L.A. in 1991 and the main thing I miss are the crawfish. Any time someone from my company comes down from our office in New Iberia, I have them bring some Zatarain's, Oak Grove, and Tony's. We have wonderful shrimp here and it's hard to beat boiling them in Zatararain's boil!

Professionals use baited crawfish traps

to catch them but the weekend guys use baited nets.

The easy way to catch this many at one time is to buy them. You can get them live in sacks (30 to 40 lbs) or pre-boiled ready to eat by the pound.

You boil crawfish just like blue crabs or shrimp. The trick to good taste is the seasoning you use and this may not be available in your area.

now I am in trouble thanks(wink wink) we already planned on oysters on the half shell for next weekend guess what just got added to the menu.Showed the pic to my wife and my arm still hurts from her (FORCING) me into the addition...can you detect the hint of sarcasm lol

I moved away for about 4 years twice in my life. Once while I was in the Air Force and again when oil prices fell 1987 to 1991.
Both times I could not wait to get home.

I can remember when I was in Air Force mechanic school (Rantoul IL)(1977) they served boiled shrimp once. They were boiled in plain water with a little salt. It left such a impression on me that I can remember it to this day.

John, are crawfish and crayfish the same? Up here in NY, as kids we would catch crayfish in creeks under rocks. We never tried to eat them, but they look good on you pic!!

What is a crayfish??? Is that a northern way of saying crawfish???
Just having a little fun since we do not use that word. In fact we would know you were from out of town when hearing you say it.

Yes a crawfish and a crayfish are the same thing. The kind you most likely see up there is white river crawfish where as we eat red swamp crawfish. Related but no the same exact thing.

Looks like it's time to visit my wife's sister in Slidell. There is a seafood store at the head of there road where you just tell them how many lbs you want and they put them in a heavy paper bag. Put some brown paper on the table and dump them out and have at them. Need to go anyway it is about time for her last chemo treatment.

Hi Mark, It's still cool and wet here in MD and it was below freezing earlier this week and I had take my vegetable plants from the mini-greenhouse
to the trunk of our old 1981 Mercury Cougar in the garage. Now they're saying its going to get cold again. It was 73 on Saturday, so I may need to move them again. Here's a few pics of them. Hal
