our new farm (pics)

Good morning.

Finally got a chance to get the pictures downloaded so I could show y'all the farm my fiance and I bought. It sure is a big but very fun task getting things ready in the house and around the farm. I sure do feel blessed though. This is a dream come true and I feel very humbled to have this wonderful opportunity. Hope everyone's spring is going good. God bless.

Congratulations!!!!!!!!! Dreams do come true. My dad lost his dairy farm during the farm crisis of the 1980's when I was a kid. Every day I go to work I dream of getting a small farm started to make right what we all lost. I just pray it happens. Cherish every moment you have in the peace and serenity. I am truely happy for you. Good Luck

That's a nice place. The tin one the house is a very old pattern, probably 1930's.

Congratulation to both of you.

Really like the 2 story home.

Where is your farm/home located?

Thanks for the photos; keep us updated.

i think i heard him mention hes in ohio, but i could be wrong.

Sure looks like alot of the farms around here

That's a big project you've taken on.Congratulations! Let us know what kind of tractor(s) you acquire. When I was a kid we farmed 100 acres with an 8N.

Congratulations - the pics really give a sense of how much you have going for you on that property.
For a hilarious contrast, I should put pics on here of the fixer-upper farm that we bought 5+ years ago - 160 acres, but only 25 acres currently tillable. We'll need drainage tile put in to get another 25 acres. The rest is either too rocky, too wet, or on the hillside.
Hope you have much better luck than us!

Jay

Howdy,

Our farm is located in Winchester Ohio. That's out in Adams county in S. Ohio. It's about 50 miles East of Cincinnati. God bless.

Howdy,

I've currently got 2 John Deere R's, a JD 720 diesel, and a Farmall A that I'll be using. I'm running a 494A planter, 8300 drill, 1209 haybine, 336 baler, #70 IH 4 bottom plow, and a #37 13' disk. Probably forgot something but that's all I can think of right now. Lookin into a 1440 IH combine but not till next year. Will be borrowing a machine this fall. God bless.

oops! forgot about the tractor in the pic. that one was borrowed. Haven't got mine moved over there yet but needed to get fertilizer on the hayfield. God bless.

Wow, that is a beautiful place, its great to see other young guys getting into grain. I wish you the best. You brought a smile to my face.

Theres some money to be made also, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Farm smart, stay up on technology and marketing strategies and you can put a little side cash in your pocket while paying off your hobby. I'd really try to stay up/learn grain marketing, rent some bins if you can and use yours, theres no sense selling wet corn out of the field for 3.50 when you can get 4.40 by being smart about it.

Nice Place! One of the first things I would do is subsoil rip a bunch of lines away from that lagoon so the water can get to the new fruit trees.

Oh, you were going to put in some new fruit trees to celebrate, right?

congradulations!!! nice looking farm!! a little paint and sprucing up and yer good to go. i had to sell and move about 5 years ago because of urban sprawl. bought two farms kinda in the middle of nowhere. first year i planted quite a few fruit trees, black berries, goose berries, rhubard. tress just started bearing fruit last year. may want to give it some thought.

Had some questions, but they got answered as I read the replies.

Looks good.

Check the bolts on that bin before filling it, likely ok but that is a fair amount of rust, need to make sure it holds up to the pressure of grain on it.
