OT: Dogwood Trees


Have a good one. Things pretty much shut down here until Tuesday. Germans have more holidays than you can shake a stick at...

Very nice pics,

We tried a couple times to grow pink Dogwood here they don't last long But the wild white ones thrive. I don't have any on this property yet though.

It hard to imagine that the east side of this great state is so green when all we see here is brown, brown, brown. We need rain desperately.

Enjoyed the pics.
 
I have one dogwood down by the pond but the firs have grown up so much that I can't see it any more without walking down there.
I guess I will have to do some tree trimming.

West Texas is definitely different than East Texas.

My mother’s brother, Uncle Graham, lived in Tahoka just south of Lubbock.

Went to visit him during my senior year of high school.

While there for two weeks, I went to the local high school track and ran to stay in shape.

High School coach told me that the Texas Tech track coach was scouting/recruiting that week and offered to let me try out with his sprinters.

Tail wind probably shaved at least 1 second of my time.

My first year of college was at Texas Tech on a track scholarship.

Best job I have ever had was at Tech; an 18 year old breakfast cook at a girls dorm.

Glad you like the photos of our Dogwood trees.
 
All of these trees were transplanted by my parents when they built their home.

These trees came from different places on our farm.

Nancy and I mark as many Dogwood trees as we find during this season with orange survey's tape.

I don't want to accidently cut one down during the winter months.

Glad you enjoy the photos; Nancy and I like to share them.
 
They are certainly pretty this time of the year.

The photos we took really don't do them justice.

We only get about a 2 or 3 week blooming cycle every year.

In the Fall these trees turn a dark red.
