The stuff is called Berrymans Chem-dip. I also use spray carb cleaner as a clean up for the chem dip. I soak the carb for 24 plus hours in the chem dip then spray it off with the other carb cleaner and blow it off/out with air. 96OX consumer size is part number 0996. And the 2 gal. # is 0902 Any good auto parts store will have it

Any parts store, NAPA et al, will have some brand of carb dip in gallon and five gallon cans for around twenty bucks a gallon.

Be careful with the stuff, though. They aren't kidding with the safety warnings. If you even get some on your fingers, you're liable to lose some hide.

THANK YOU .... I'm putting it my book of information ...before I forget..

THANKS again ... Mark

I was talking to a mechanic friend of mine last night about this very subject, and he told me he just boiled a carburetor yesterday in no more than just plain hot water, and it cleaned it perfectly, after two boilings, and changing the water after the first time. he says that works just as well as anything will. I asked him if he added soap, and he told me no, just boil put the carb in the water and bring to a boil, and let it simmer for a while, and then repeat.

I found that out the hard way. Dropped a part tried to catch it and my hand went into the cleaner. My skin was cracked and dry for about a week. Wife had to rub lotion on it everyday. It will mess you up.

Another dip type cleaner is from Gunk Solder Seal corp. Hydroseal is the name of it.
While I have never done it, the guy who runs the local small engine/chainsaw shop says he just boils all his carbs in plain water in an old pot on a hot plate. He claims it works very well, and solves a hazardous waste dilemma.

Probably not the right way-but it worked.
I soaked a varnished up old carb off a Wisconsin
engine in MEK, Methyl-ethyl-Keytone, for 24
hours, then blew it off with a can of starting
fluid. it came out super clean. I also use a
gas welding tip cleaner, with all of those small
different size wires to make sure that the jets
are clean-theres always a wire that will fit the
small holes in the jets.
