Thanks for the fast reply and information.
If i understand this correctly the cs130/cs120 and cs144 all wire up the same as 10si a'm i right on that ? i have wiring diagram for the10si which i used successfully to wire up a 10si on my other tractor but was not sure on this one and although it is a free doaner did'nt want to ruin it THANK again Ralph in Iowa

Heres an easy and cheap way to figure it out and a good idea to do any how. Take it in to have it tested and when you do talk to the guy and have him show you how it is set up on the test bench. That way you know you have it right plus you know the alternator is good before you try to install it. In the long run that will help you out a lot because if it is bad you might go crazy trying to figure out what is wrong

You still haven't mentioned what alternator you actually have. The older 10 ,12, and 17SI series only has three connections. The main output post, and #1 and #2 on top. The CS series has five connectors, the main output post and a harness connector with four pins and they come two ways - P, L, I, and S, or . . . P, L, F, S.

L=Lamp
P=Stator and can also be used as a tach drive
F=Field/Connected internally to Field positive AND may be used as a Fault Indicator..
S=Sensing wire to Battery or system.
I=Regulator.

The S terminal is the large terminal and is for remote voltage sensing. The L terminal is in the middle of the 3 smaller terminals. It is
connected back to the idiot light and then back to the ignition. If you run a switched
ignition source wire to the middle terminal, you will turn on the regulator when you start
the car. The lead will need to run through an idiot light or you will need to add a 47 ohm
resistor, as the regulator can not handle a full 12 volts through that terminal

If you do not wish to run an idiot light and you don't want to install the resistor, you can
run a 12 V source to the F pin rather than the L pin.
