O/T HELP 90 chevy

I have a 90 chevy truck with a 350 in it. Today it was running great and then started missing on one cylinder for a while and then ran great for about an hour after that. Then it just died and now it has no fire at all. Where do I start? Coil? Distributer? Do these have a common problem that I should start with first?

Also prone to cracks in the distributor cap - happened to my son's about a month ago. New cap, runs like a champ.

You need a HEI spark checker,,, that will eliminate alot of possibilities and save ya form waisting your money and time

your system is as simple as a EI gets (almost)

The fuel injection is as simple as it gets,,, only takes a few special tools to confirm spark and fuel pressure are that the injectors are B-N turned on

Check for spark from the coil wire first. A cracked cap or a blown through rotor could be your problem if the coil wire sparks but nothing is getting to the plugs. From there, ign module and pick up coil in the dist.

explain this

if the coil wire sparks but nothing is getting to the plugs. From there, ign module and pick up coil in the dist.

OK re read it and understand it (OK good job)

So till he reports back how do you determin (real EZ) that its a pick up coil are module problem

I can shut my eyes and tell ya,,, lot of click'n going on

(quoted from post at 03:48:02 04/04/09) Meant to add "if no spark from coil wire". Oops, my bad.

you also forgot to use a HEI spark checker,,, the coil may have spark but if it will not jump thru a HEI spark tester then the coil is bad

The spark from the coil will jump close to a 1",,, any thing less than 1/2" should throw up a flag

Thanks, I will try to get at it today if everything goes well and report back. But that usually don't happen to often.
