Okay,

Got 'er where I can feed today and tomorrow. Weatherman says next blizzard will hit Friday night.

We were blowin' some black diesel smoke this morning, I'll tell ya. Had the tongue hangin' out on that ol' 966. :>)

thanks Allen
Thanks for the pic you just made my day. Rain , rain and more rain in southern Georgia. Not so bad i guess. That pic of the snow is why i left Minnesota many moons ago.

Take care

We're still getting snow in western Washington, which is supposed to be over in about February. Went to town of Morton in the foothills of the Cascades yesterday, still snowing when I left, 2 inches on the ground. Studded tires had to come off April 1st, but "traction tires required" on the mountain passes- wonder how that's working out for folks.

You can say what you will about our new prez- he sure got that global warming thing whipped in a hurry!

Not letting up on you at all out there, well to heck with the snow, and welcome that moisture into the ground, that's if it don't blow away on you.. has to get warm soon don't it ???

I live in northern Wisconsin and we have not had that much snow in five years, still on our way to another drought year I'm afraid, lakes are way down, the rivers haven't even pushed out into the flats this year. Oh well, we are still better off than the poor buggers in the Red river valley up by Fargo, it looks like they may be getting a break soon.

Sorry, Allan. In Dallas and at the farm, trees are fully leafed out, everything's in bloom and everything is covered in yellow pollen!

When you walk through the yard, pasture, whatever, your boots turn yellow along with your pant legs.

I'm not complaining. Spring and fall are my favorite times.

Took pictures of the bluebonnets around our home in Dallas. James is going to post a couple of them.

Spring will eventually work its way up to you, too, Allan!

Suprised you could blow it. Down here it was really wet under any type of snow bank. Our 966 hydro works great on our blower as long as the snow isn't to wet. Later funtwohunt

Allan do you know anyone that travels the western part of your state reguarly . Have a question from them if you can find me someone.
Have them give me a tic or phone number to get in touch with them Jerry

Allan,

How does that dual chute blower work for you? Does it blow the snow far enough? What brand is it? 540 or 1000?

I don't remember what brand ours is offhand, but we have dual augers and a single blower fan in the middle. The 4450 MFWD has enough traction that my brother actually bent the blower frame/tin this year! Had to run braces from the outer edges to the 3-point mount to keep the tin from pushing back in the middle and hitting the augers...

It's called a "Badger" and I got it from my bud Gary over in northeast Iowa.

It's a "cut-throw" and really works great. 1,000 rpm and ya gotta really keep the revs up. I think I'll get an additional set of tractor chains for next year tho 'cause traction is the biggest issue.

It just works the snot out of that tractor, which I've even got turned up to 115 horse. Black smoke just boils out of 'er when I hit those big drifts.

Sure beats that scoop shovel tho. :>)

Just came from Dallas Tuesday and it's the first time I ever seen pollen so bad. Could have been warmer but was nice.

Ours will kill the 1086 (around 145 horses on the dyno) easily. Takes a decent size drift to kill the 4450, but it will still do it if you're not quick on the clutch!

Nice thing about the blower the snow kinda disappears with no piles in the way.

Seems strange to see that blower knowing it is way out in Nebraska.

Glad your getting some use out of it Allan. But I bet you wish you didn't have to use it.

I put mine away for the year. Hope I don't have to get it back out.

Oh for sure,

It's been working overtime this year; we normally don't get that much snow either. :>(

Another 10" 'sposed to be here on Saturday, so here we go again. :>)

Hey Steve - Not to be mean, but you might wnat to blow the snow the other way and quit pulling snow off the shed!

That's my brother, not me! I'm down here in sunny AZ enjoying the nice weather yet.

Not to be mean ( well maybe a little bit!! ) but isn't snow kinda a blessing - moisture that goes into the ground? Here in Michigan, it's just a pia.

The way you have that 966 tuned up I'd for sure have a pyrometer hooked up and be watching for over 850 degrees. WOuldn't take long in a big drift to fry that bugger.

It's a double-edged sword for many - for the farming aspect, yes the snow is great and needed moisture. For ranching/cattle, snow is tough on animals and many are calving during this part of the year and baby calves don't do well in wet, cold conditions... yet again, the moisture will help the summer pastures to produce well.

I've always tried to convince Dad to choose either farming OR cattle, not both. If I had my way, the fences would be torn out and the plow would be seen in all of our (former) pastures.
