Im about to leap into the small handy easy to get onto tractor. My 520 is way to unhandy and 756 is way to hard to start in winter(maine). New tractor will be gas. So 550 0liver,135 massy,600 or 800 fords or poss d15 allis. I want a loader on it also What would be you choose. Thanks ED

A lot more Massey 135 out there than any of the other tractors. Most of the Fords are a 4 speed but if I went to a Ford I would hold out for one with the 5 speed amd live PTO, Allis the D15 is third smallest in production numbers after the D10 & D12, if Allis I would look for a D17 series 4 and not a D15 due strictly to numbers produced for avaibility of machine ans also smaller number produced harder to get parts.

Guess I've owned all of those choices at one time or another, and its kind of a toss-up between the 550 Oliver (or Super 55) and Massey 135. I like the Oliver better on account of the independent PTO, but you won't go wrong with either one. I like the D15, but not as easy for "ingress/egress" as the other two.

1 Allis
2 Oliver
3 Ford (w/ps)
4 Massy

I have had, and still do, Allis and other than some parts (read $$$) easy to maintain. I would love to have a 15.

No Olivers, been close to a few, seem simple, would worry about options, most I have seen were bare bones. But have seen a couple that were compairable to Allis D17.

Ford Had two, liked them but, geard to high, to light and needed some weight, parts easy to get. Power steering a must woth loader.

Massy, never had one, much like the Fords size wise, looks kinda of scary on maintence.

Thanks everone. It seems that parts are avalable for all models Thats what I was cauious of. Bin through the no parts made anymore. Just waiting till my 756 needs a thermostat. I understand its a $400 retrofit because the org are not avalable anymore. Thanks ED

With the Massey you could get a diesel. As long as I can get mine to spin over fast enough, I can get it to start. It's sat for over 3 months and started right up like it was just running. If it's plugged in it starts really easy. The only problem is that the loader would be slow without an aux. pump. What are you using the loader for? Dave

Small, handy, loader, easy on and off ? Well you just described any number of the many compact tractors on the market today. I'd stay with a JD,Kubota,New Holland and get a 4x4 with a hydro tranny.
