Geez,I was gonna be a nice guy and rejoin the rolling treehugger blackout at 8 Mountain time (10 here) last night,BUT,I walked in to the bathroom about 9:30 and there was a snake crawling out of the register. The wife sat up til 3:30 this morning with all the lights in the house on. Too scared to turn them off and go to bed.

I came downstairs about a month ago and found a small snake in my office. I think it was too cold to move.

I can't tell You about how to get rid of that Snake You have now, BUT If You get a House Cat You won't have any More trouble with them, for sure,They will run them off/Kill/Eat them. Larry

We call them spotted adders. Don't know if that's the real name or not. Most older houses around here have them. They're brown with spots. Look kinda like a rattler. This one was probably 3 feet long, about as big around as a nickle. They make it into the house once or twice a year.

Got a cat that's in here about half the time, and a dog that won't hesitate to tangle with a skunk. Don't know if he'll take out a snake if he finds it first or not.

If you've ever had a mouse in the house (and who hasn't), you can also have a snake. The wimmin don't like to hear that.

We had a six foot kingsnake get in the basement once. Before I could grab it, it started up the stud cavity in our old balloon frame farm house. I told the wife about it - she said she wasn't a bit worried, but I should expect to fix the shotgun hole if it got up in the house. It came out a week later - son and I caught it and took it back to the barn where it belonged.

Wife doesn't mind the snakes but won't tolerate the bats we get flying around in the bedroom at night. She keeps an old fishing net in the bedroom to snag the bats. They sure do screech when she nets em.

No offense , But what are you guys complaining about ? Just kidding . I woke up one morning in late spring / early summer and had a black garter snake about 1-2 feet long in bed with . It was crawling up from the foot of the bed towards the headboard and was in the middle of the bed halfways to my head when I woke up . Now I felt like one of those people in those old movies were the bad guy lets a cobra snake into the room of the good guy in order to kill him . I've also stepped over one before ( and almost on ) a snake in another old house we lived in when I was a kid .
