Used truck ?

I am looking at a used 1 ton dually truck. I will be using it for personal things (hauling hay, pulling stock trailer & snowmobile trailer). I have found a nice used one, WITHOUT a gooseneck ball. My question is.....would this be a good thing, assuming that they must not have done much hauling with it? Is it easier on the "wear & tear" of the vehicle that has not done much hauling & then using it to haul with? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Wear and tear on a one ton truck is usually less than on smaller trucks due too the size of the running gears.....some of the things too look for as in all trucks is play in the front ends, steering play. Dont be afraid too crawl up under the truck and look around either.......make sure there are no rusted cross members or frame repairs.
Ask the owner about records of oil changes and service work done too the truck. Look at the tires and make sure they are good for the price of the truck, duallies arent cheap too re-rubber.
I've had 3 of them now and I wont go back too straight trucks ever.
Ya just cant beat them for pulling trailers and hauling heavy loads.
Mine is an 01 Dodge 4 wheel drive with a cummins and automatic.......so far so good....I'm luvvin it.

Pickups should be inexpensive right now. Friend has a '04 or '05 Chev dually, 454 gas, NEVER had a ball, 4 door, 85,000 miles (SHARP)for sale. $12,500. Galesburg, IL

See quite a few come through the shop that don't have a goose neck ball but used a pintle on the bumper/trailer hitch. Some of those were beat pretty good towing tag a longs.

I have a 1971 Dodge D300 4x4 with a 4 speed, 318 8V engine, I was thinking of selling.
it has a 7 X 10 foot x 4 foot high DUMP Box on it.
Warn Hubs, Duals, and over load springs.
8 foot Western snow plow, with a Winch under the front of the truck for pulling anything you want.
it has a heavy duty trailer hitch on it, and strobs over the cab. the truck has 32000 original miles on it,, not much for a Classic.
people say it's worth 25K or over,, I had an insurance man tell me to insure it for 35K

Don't see them like this much any more.
