O/T Small Air Compressor

Has any one seen a small compressor like this? I found it at the scrap yard 14 years ago and purchased it for $3.00. It works fine. The motor cannot be reversed. I should have a twist in the belt because the pulley blows the air way from the compressor instead of toward it. I have only seen one other like it but it had a v-belt on it. The name tag read Saylor Seal Co. mine don't have an id tag. Does any one know of this company or what these little compressors were used for? I use it to just air up tires and balls. It builds up 90psi than just pops the pop-off valve open.

The motor is a 110 volt 1/4 HP General Electric. There are two brushes inside and the armature has two copper a slip rings on it, one for each brush. Non-reversable!

I doubt the fan on the pulley does much good anyway, it may still draw air over the fins going in the wrong direction. The fins by them selves will remove some heat from the cylinder. I have a compressor about that same time frame it is a called a Big Boy. Don't use it amymore. It will probably end up in the scrap pile. Motor probably weighs 75 lbs alone. Stan

I still have one those that my dad bought new at Montgomery-Ward in the early 50's. It came with a large aluminum carry tank. It was ideal for painting,as you can adjust the pressure with that popoff valve on the bottom of the small tank. I recently took the elec. motor off & put a 5hp briggs on it. Very handy to take to field. Hate to guess how much run time the comp. has on it.
