Anybody know where I can get a masonry bit for a hammer drill, 1 and a qaurter inch in diameter by at least 18 inchs long?? I might could make do with a 1 inch in diameter, but it'd be tough. Also not looking to break the bank. Place in town qouted me $150 to special order...that's a lot for just one hole.

Do you have one of those tool rental places nearby where you can rent the whole drill, bit and all? Might be cheaper.

We have 2 hammer drills at work, one is a Hilti and the other is a Bosch. The largest bit we have for them is 1 inch. The length is about 18 in. I'm sure they make larger ones. You may be able to find a rental place that has these brands.

I just checked McMaster. They have a 1 1/4 X 24 (with shank) for $56.42. Nst recomended for hammer drill, but I've used that type in a hammer drill with good results. The other factor is whether you need to go through solid poured concrete or block or brick.

Good Luck

Appreciate the info...found exactly what I needed for little better than $40. Appreciate everyone's input....I have NO decent tool rentals in a decent driving distance. Just hope this bit works with the 1/2 inch hammer drill I've got.

Bosch makes a 1 1/8" dia. 18" long (carbide tip) bit for their hammerdrills, one of their SDS S4 masonry bits. At least that is what is listed on the inside box mine came in.
Gives a p/n # HC2287.

I drilled hundreds of holes with 1 1/4 core drill and a 1/2 in Black and Decker Hammer drill. Want to keep a hold of it or it will eat you up.

I just drilled 2 , 2 1/2 in holes in 12 inch concrete walls to install AC lines, Cost me 78$ to rent a core drill for a day. The Bits are expensive and rarely used so it pays to rent from a construction tool rental. Henry
