Ok you guys have a lot of knowledge about a lot more than just tractors, here goes.
We have a chance to purchase 11 "2008" Freightliner CL120, 58" mid roof sleeper, 14 liter engine, 230" wheel base, 10 speed, Air ride, 65,000 average miles, red in color, they look brand new.
Now the question, what do you think these will bring retail in this down economy???

Not much as in all my years i have never seen trucking down so bad and the price of used trucks fall so fast . The only trucks that are sorta holding any value are the ones that are not the run of the mill freight haulers that have th basic spec.'s of the Detroit and 10 speed . One's that have the high horse engines and 13-18 speed heavy rears are holding better . Myself i am glad at this time that i am fussy as to what i WAS looking for and did not buy a truck and have that BOAT ANCHOR setting in my drive trying to find work for it . I went thru the big slow sown back in the 80's and darn near had to pay someone to buy my truck in 83 . I only lost 15 grand on that one .

I don't know, but I have been seeing some leftover's similarly equipped in the rags lately for under 100K Canadian. That's probably mid 80's USD right now.
Take a years use out of that... I'd say you're getting down in the 60's anyway, but I dunno.
While reading through the rags I see that there's still a LOT of people in need of a price reality check... some are starting to fall in line, but there's still some astronomical numbers out there.
In my opinion those trucks need to be cheap. If I was looking to dump a pile of money into a new truck, I'd buy a new truck, not a year old truck that somebody else has pucked around for a while. The emissions thing is another reason... I think that Tier IV will probably simplify some of the nonsense on the engines as they're basically going back to the Tier II controls and using urea to clean the exhaust up. ~The should be better...~
'07-'09 trucks are probably not going to fetch much money down the road because of the misery involved with them generally.
I'd likely give more for a Tier II '06 than I would for these '08's...

From about $65,000.00 to $80,000.00 from the quick look I took.A lot of that depends on how beat up they are, whether they were maintained right or not.Maybe less depending on how bad somebody wants to sell them and what they look like.

Like Bill Klump said don't bother with anything that new. I've heard alot of bad about the new EGR motors both from the guys I run into driving them and the guys I know that work on them. Based on what I've seen, heard, and read go back at least pre '07 to get a more reliable engine. Like another post suggested look for a series 60 Detroit also. I know the local shop was full of trucks with the Mercedes engines having problems straight out of the factory.

wALTER / IT IS NOT WHAT THEY ARE WORTH IT IS WHERE DO YOU SELL THEM. JUST AS THE OTHER POST THIS THING IS SCARRY. NOBODY BUYING ,TO MANY UNITS JUST SITTING AROUND. HAVE A FRIENT THAT LOST 145,000 ON A LOT OF 10 THAT HE PURCHASED 15 MONTHS AGO WHEN WE THOUGHT THE TRUCK MARKET HAD ABOUT BOTTOMED OUT. AUCTION IN THIS PART OF THE COUNTRY MAYBE JUST A LITTLE OVER 40,000 AND THAT IS IF YOU GOT A BID. IF I WERE YOU I WOULD LOOK HARD AT THAT INVESTMENT UNLLESS YOU HAVE MONEY TO BURN OR KNOW MORE ABOUT THE TRUCK MARKET.. GOOD LUCK AND IT MAY TURN AROUND IN DAYS WHO KNWS..I AM IN BEIJING RIGHT NOW AND I CAN TELL YOU THEY ARE SCARED TO DEATH OVER THIS WORLD ECONOMY OVER HERE, THERE STEEL MILL ARE RUNING A 1/2 CAPACITY TWO YEARS SUPPLY OF IRON ORE AND SCRAP ON THE GROUND RIGHT NOW

i got the same problem here i went back to a local company driver just to be able to eat and pay some of the bills, now i got my truck sitting here and its most usefull as a marking post for the dogs, to mark their teritory on, the best advise i can give you on buying a big truck these days is dont , leave it right where it is, you wont like it, theres virtually no money in running it, theres little work for it and it will spend every dollar you make in these times
