I just wanted to pass on some information for those who don't know. It's a website called auction sniper dot com. All it does is bid on the ebay items you want to snipe the at the last second.

You do have to give them your ebay user id and password, and you get three free snipes just for signing up. I have used them for the last two years with out any problems and got what I wanted by using them. This is how those people out bid you at the last minute. Hope this helps any of you.

If you poke in the max amount you are willing to pay, Ebay will run the auction to that maximum amount. It does the same thing in the end. If I'm only willing to pay 100 bucks for an item, its going to run it to 100 for me whether I am online or not. If it goes over that, someone else is going to get it. If its under, it will bid up to the next highest bid as long as its not over 100.00. Pretty simple.

Never had much luck with them. DaveD hit the nail on the head, doesn't matter in the end its who will pay the most. The theory is it holds the price down till the last few seconds problem is latly thats when all the major bidding happens.

Sometimes I wait until about a minute to go and bid the absolute max I will pay. Since you only get charged what it takes to win, there's really no point in having someone else bid for you.

DO you really think it's a good idea to give some one else your ID and Pass word ????? if you do,, give it to me and I'll bid for you

John I have used sniper several times always with good luck !! And amazingly my items never even got close to my high bid. But some people are to scared to try it .

Yes ,I tried it.I think it gives you three free tries.Never got the item. Now I use a stopwatch.I dont cut it as close as auction sniper but so far have won items.I just bid on simple stuff like old shop manuals and have the attitude that there is always more than one out there to be had.If you see a guy ask questions and not bid he wll be sniping at the end most often.

Yepper, I've missed a couple items lately by just a few cents. If I was willing to pay a few more cents I should have bid a few more cents. But I wasn't. Somebody else was.

Its not really that simple there is a lot of psychology involved especially if the item is way undervalued going into the last few minutes.People will bid thinking they have left enough cushion to get the item but if they had time to think about it for awhile they'd pay more.I bid myself with DSL with about 8 seconds left by the time someone could rebid its over. Most of the time thats my only bid on an item

Someone did a study a while back and concluded that sniping does work. It's probably a psychological thing: folks are less inclined to make the highest bid they're willing to pay if they think it's not necessary. Also, an early bidding frenzy tends to draw the attention of buyers who may not know what something is really worth, but figure if everyone else is bidding it must be a good deal.

That said, if your goal is to get what you're bidding on, go ahead and bid your max long before the bid ends. Most snipers are bargain hunters who are trying to get something cheap by not showing their hand. Snipers will almost always get knocked out by a reasonably high bid.

I use auction sniper all the time, and have won most items I wanted and have saved literally thousands of dollars, I bought a 720 Lp last night and outbid the guy when there was 1 second left, One cool thought about eBay is, if you win an item, you know that you were willing to pay more for it than anyone else in the world at that time. :)

I never sold anything on E-Bay. But I don't think it is fair to the seller the way it works. The item should go to the highest bidder. It should not be sold until no one bids any more. Say after 30 seconds or 1 minute with no bids then it is declared sold.

I never bid more than once on an item, usually the night before it ends. I bid the most I"m willing to pay, and if I"m beat out, the other guy was willing to pay more. What could be simpler?
