OT: Polaris sportsman 500 4x4

My 500 is eating drive belts between the two sheaves. It has also chewed through the cover. With the cover off, when I accelerate the front sheave (the one connected to the engine) will "shift" to the back a considerable distance, in effect loosening the belt. Would also explain the damage to the cover.
From visual inspection without pulling it all apart the motor mounts LOOK OK. But, could they be flexing too much from old age, or do I need to be looking for another problem? DOUG

sounds to me like you got a bearing out on that shaft your talking about.thats where i would suspect your problem is.sounds like you are referring to the crank shaft?. RICK

This is my favorite tractor site but when I need help with my sportsman I go to http://forums.atvconnection.com/index.cfm?nocookies=yes

If you use the search option you might be able to get a good idea how to fix it w/o having to sign up.
