Electric Crank

I recently bought a 1935 Case C. It has been converted to 12 volts, distributor and all. It has an aftermarket starter which replaced the crank. It attaches on the front with a ring gear and starter attched to the front end of the crankshaft. The starter actually sticks out the front. I have never seen or heard of anything like it. Can anyone give me any clues as to who might have made this? Thanks for your help.

To put it mildly! Sounds like a Rumley Oil Pull that I saw with an electric starter. Had a big truck starter on it with a small rubber tire mounted on the end of it. The whole thing rocked on a pivot shaft. They'd rock the tire back against the flywheel and touch it off.

Wonder why they didn't just use a 4 hp briggs with a tire on it to start it? sounds easier than all those batteries and cables and such.

Here is the picture of the "electric crank". Has anyone seen something like this before, who might have made it, etc,?
