a guy has offered me a complete john deere t24 baler that a farmhand left at his place for its cost in scrap so i am looking to find out how much it weighs. any help would be appreciated.

specs for newer JD balers, 328 twine 2685lbs 338 2805lbs 348 3110lbs. A t24 should be in the ball park of one of these, hope that helps

I do think the 24T is a lighter baler than the 14T. I know for sure that the axles are lighter and the wagon pull hitch is lighter, and the pickup assembly is lighter. That old 14T was a heavy monster.

I just checked my 24T JD owner's manual, and it shows the 24T - twine tie with PTO drive to be 2406 lbs.

I was sure happy to have moved up from the 14T to the 24T, big difference. But then the next move was to the 327 and 328. Both the 327 and 328 have such high carbon steel in many places that it is too brittle and cracks from vibration or flexing. The 24T was a very good compromise between strength and weight.
