Got a question. I am still ponder'n my corn seed for this year. I have always heard that cows don't like Bt stalks. I had a problem with wire worms this past year. It only cost $20 more for a bag of the pioneer I want stacked over just RR and one pass of hero is going to be $6/acre. With only 60 acres I have to have nieghbors custom harvest for me and no one round here will stop what they are doing to do custom work. Last year my corn was dry for about 3 weeks before any of my neighbors got to it and in that time the corn that stood up good durring Ike started falling over pretty bad. I have always figured on have'n the corn ground to save alot of hay in the fall and let let pasture ground rest a while.

Do any of you have any experiance graze'n Bt stalks? Do the cows have to get pretty hungry to eat them?

Thanks.

Dave

Yes I graze Bt stalks.

They will go for the refuse acres first in the fall but will go after the bt stalks as time goes on and they break down more.

If you plant Bt corn don't forget to plant those refuge acres so that we don't kill all those wonderful yield robbing pests.

Thanks Gary. I have some left over seed that will do as well as anything in the shade and seeps. If we kill all the pest then there will be no need to buy the high $ seed will there?

Thanks again.
