Hydraulic Front End Lift - Choppy Movement

Have an Allis 170 with a front end loader. Seems to have plenty of lift power but upward movement both lifting and bucket tilt is very slow and choppy. I recently changed the filter but that didn't seem to help. Any ideas?

A cut or leaking line would squirt oil like a stuck hog. Could be a pinched hose or a control valve . How does the boom lift? You said it was only the bucket that jerked? Cycle it full range several times. May be a mechanical problem also. Binding bushing or stuck or bent pin or arm.

Are you running the loader through the tractor's remote valves or are you using a separate valve to control the loader? I had the same problems with my loader on my Oliver 1650. I installed a separate control valve plumbed into the power-beyond circuit and my loader operates very smoothly now. Tractor remote valves were not designed to provide very good operation of loaders, put a separate valve on and you will be much happier.

take the suchion line off and drop the piece that it bolt to theres a screen across the top of it it could be plugged

Are there any flow controls in the circuits? Do you have an adjustment to control the rate of drop? In theory you want to pump oil in the cylinders to force the oil out of the base end or you will have air in the cylinders.

Running the lift through the original valves mounted beside the seat. Dad used it for lifting logs at the saw mill. Where do I see a seperate control unit?
