This website gives a good history lesson on the forms of government and it is scary to see what the USA might become if we are not careful.

It"s interesting how folks use the word "democracy" so readily when talking about the good old USA. Click on the below website and look and listen to the form of goverment we have or we think we have. Good Stuff. Michael

Haven't gone to either site, but the US was never intended to be a democracy. Our constitution sets us up as a representative republic. That means we elect people to represent us and do our voting for us. Thank your lucky stars that they had the good sense to do it that way. If we had to vote on every issue to come down the pike, everything would be based on emotion.

A democracy does not work. They are downright dangerous and our founders knew it.

As someone else said we are a republic and are "supposed" to have representatives.

I think it time to shine up the pitchforks and the machetes and march on Washington!

Probably one of my pet peeves when I hear US representatives, Senators and new commentators refer to us as a democracy!

One glaring example of how far we have strayed from the constitution is the Senate. The Senators were meant to be chosen by the various States legislatures and installed for 6 year terms, both of these provisions were designed to allow Senators to be the voice of ''reason''. Since they would not face the voters every 2 years like Congress, it was thought that Senate would over rule Congress and, in times of national distress, protect the people ''against their own temporary errors and delusions'' frequently capitalized on by '' the artful misrepresentations of men interested in their own illicit advantages''. Does any of the above, written 220 years ago by James Madison sound familiar?

Yes that is a very good link, accurate and truly forecasting where we are headed. It will be interesting to see what the folks from the left will have to say about the presentation.
