Here in Wayne Co. Ohio the Amish were out in force plowing away. We just had alot of rain too !
The AWD must really work good on the horses ?

Oats, I would venture to guess. You can mud them in. 1958 Dad and I plowed for oats on the 13th of March. Two days later we drilled in the oats and it was well below freezing with the wind blowing. Was layered with all we could find and was still cold.

Back when i was a youngster At my uncles farm we always started plowing in March some times even late Feb. . We did not have a problem back then with the wet spots as we plowed with crawlers back then . One OC 3 , One OC 6 and the D4 Cat . Two bottoms behind the OC 3 three bottoms behind the OC 6 and Five behind the D4 . Many days i spent on the OC 3 in a snow suit five buckle boots and mittens . Second gear right foot holding the throttle wide open , getting to the head land pulling for all i was worth on the trip rope to get the plow up only to have the land wheel slide and not raise the plow and makethe turn and drop into the farrow and go a bit then the plow would come up. . I do believe i learned how to swear back then . My uncle put one tire chain on the land wheel and this helped some . God that brings back fond memories .

The soil must be sandier out there, if you plow with it wet here you get crazy compaction and smears the clay making water a big problem.

Will Mike WE can not plow here in Crawford Co we had 3in of rain here yesterday more came last night. But the tractor cub iam in we have plowday Crawford antique farm machinery association we have fun

Over here by Youngstown we had enough rain since the weekend, that all you could was stand on the porch and watch the run off. The Dutchmen in New Wilmington are still sloggen through the mud stacking corn shocks on the wagons with long ear 8 wheel drive. Hoping this April is as good as last! Lot of early gardens in.

Plowed sod ground here 2 weeks ago. With a Farmall. Ran the disk over it yesterday. With a Farmall. 75 drgrees in KY yesterday and 40 today.

Rained an inch and a half yesterday. Ground froze solid this morning. Wind chills below zero this morning while doing the outside chores. Fortunately, outside animals have wool coats! My enthusiasm for getting started disking is seriously missing!
