Hundreds and hundreds of Male robins in the yard today. One or two females. Just as the males are the last to leave in the winter, they are the first to return. When the girls show up, it's SPRING!

Sure is nice to see the birds back. I am in Michigan and the Sandhill Cranes started showing up a few days ago what a welcome sight.
 
Remember what the old-timers say - the robins get snow on their backs 3 times before spring actually arrives.
 
I never heard that but it sounds good.

I was told that if you want good onions in the garden they need to get snowed on.

Also when the blackberries start to bud their blossoms it will get cold 3 times before they open and bloom. This is called black berry winter.

Just some old sayings I heard while growing up.
 
No I believe you heard the old farts wrong they claim a frog has to look through ice 3 times before it is spring. I gotta go
 
D@mned things are back here at my place too. Not welcome though. Every year there are more of them and more distruction than turkeys and deer combined.
 
Gordo where did you see the robins, I have only seen geese flying and one red winged blackbird who I suspect promptly headed south again. This is in sw Mn, 1 hr. north of Sioux Falls
