John Deere B hood

When removing the hood, is it best to remove the fuel tanks with it? I removed it without taking the tanks off but looks like it would be easier to take it off and restall it with the tanks mounted in the hood.
I can't find anything in my manuals about removing the hood.
Thanks

I think they are met to remove as a unit. I have lifted many off as one complete assembly. It would be fairly hard to get everything back together right taking the hood off and leaving the tanks.

The fuel tank(s) on an A, B, G, etc. are attatched to the bottom of the hood. To get the fuel tank out, you have to pull the hood off. If you want the hood off, you have to pull the fuel tank.

I just needed to get the hood off to replace the muffler and air stack. I removed the 6 bolts and clips and got the hood off okay. But I think it would be difficult to get the clips back on with the fuel tanks on the tractor. I will remove the tanks (all that is holding them is the fuel lines) and install them under the hood before replacing the hood.
Thanks for the advice. Its always nice to know someone out there has the knowledge to pass on to a novice.
