What is the diff. between a B and a BN. Is it in the serial numbers? Also is there anyone around SWMN that mignt have a small farmall for sale for a project this summer??

Sure it isn't the right axle thats shorter? a BN is the only non green tractor I own, but mine has a short right rear axle. I would guess the left axle is 18 inches longer than the right.

The BN is 8in narrower as they n made each side 4in narrower than a B Serial # on BN will start with the letters FABN and B will start with FAB. You could have the same size tires on either tractor sa the only difference was the BN being 8in narrower.

Both sides are the same length left and right. The one on the BN are 4in shorter on each side. The diff shaft housing will measure 22in for the B and 18 for the BN

The Farmall B had axle extensions each side of the geer-box and differential casing. Each was 4 inches longer than the one use on the right-hand side of the Farmall A. On the Farmall BN the extensions on each side were the same length as the one on the right of the Farmall A. This made the Farmall BN 8 inches narrower than the Farmall B. The serial number prefix was FAA on the Farmall A, FAB on the Farmall B and FABN on the Farmall BN
