PTO hydraulic pump questions

Afternoon,

Just finishing up putting the PTO pump on my tractor for my tree tiller. Never doing this before I have three things to do.

1. I have the "anti-rotation" bar hooked to the pump so it will stop against the drawbar. Is this ok, or should I use the chain to let it "float" a little instead of bottoming into the drawbar?

2. Are rubber tie downs enough to keep the pump against the rear of the tractor or should I use the chain angled forward a little to keep it on? I just don't want to side load the rear pto bearing too much.

3. How tight can you bend the suction line? 1.25" It is pretty stiff right now, but I figure that is because it is new.

Thanks,
Rick

I have had a pump totally hanging on the PTO shaft on a Ferguson 40 for 20 years. don't leave a whole lot of slack in whatever you use to stop the housing from rotating. It will have a tendcy to wobble a little though so don't totally restrict the pump from moving.
The main thing on the suction line is keep it from collapsing which it has a tendency to do under suction. That is the reason that it is so stiff. You may have to put a metal ell in the line.
