O.T. wild blue

Yes. I have used it for four years. I am on it everyday only problem is a bad storm can knock the signal off or a short time. Was installed and last I saw anyone. I use the middle package as I upload a lot of documents.

Never used it.

Topic comes up a lot on the various boards.

Seems if you can't get anything but dialup, it's a good step up.

If you can get _anything_ else, else is always better.....

There is latency, or delay, for the long disatance the signal has to travel, so downloading a file is real fast, but communicating back & forth in little chunks takes real long - doesn't work for Vonage or other such things.

Then they have penalties for using too much bandwith in a day or month, depending which one you get. Throttles you back to dialup or worse speeds for the rest of the period.

Sounds like it is better than nothing, but with a grain of salt.

We had Wild Blue for several years through a local COOP. It was far, far better than dial up.

As already noted snow or heavy rain storms can block the signal but other than that it is OK. It is more expensive than some other options.
We did have three of the reciever cones replaces due to moisture but the COOP never charged me for them.
We left Wild Blue when DSL came way out here in the country, otherwise we would still be using them.

I've got it and its a love hate relationship. I love the service and connection but its so expensive. I had to upgrade to the premium service, 79.99 a month due to the amount of downloading and uploading I do. I'm working now to see about getting cable out here. Its going to cost me a few grand but its worth it.

Cable will limit your Bandwidth also. They just slow it down on how much you can squeeze through. Only trouble I had was Uploading Pictures in e-mails. That uses the Band widthfast. I just put the pictures in PhotoBucket and send a link for that picture. onetime upload is all you need.

Have it at very remote farm location in Tn. No cabel within 3 miles. Cave charter cabel at the dealership and the wild blue meets or exceeds the cabel performance. Storm has to be very bad,
worked with 3 in snow on the dish. We had to put the dish on a 180ft tower to get a clear view but that was because the location was on the east side of mt. What is high if you neet the innernet what is $70.00 bucks a month. Bargain to me..Thanks J.W

SLOW as can be between 9:00 am and 7:00 pm...but better than dial up, and my Sprint card doesn't work at the house.
ah, the joys of country living!
