Prayer Request

My 20 year old son David was diagnosed tonight with type 1 diabetes. His blood sugar tested 581 and they said normal should be below 100. They admitted him to the hospital and took him straight to ICU. His level is coming down but it is still way too high. I would greatly appreciate if any of you would pray for him.
Thank you
Jay

My grandmother was dianosed with diabetes at (I think) 67. She will be 79 next month. She has always said that she did not feel soory for herself, she felt for those who got it young in life.

Best wishes to you and your's.

Dave

Be happy to pray for your son. Also wanted to say that although it seems bleak right now, this is not nearly as bad as other diseases out there today. My dad has been a type one diabetic for 50 years. He has listened to his doctors, followed a good diet, and kept close track of his blood sugar levels. About three years ago he started using an insulin pump and he thinks it's the cats meow. No shots anymore, and the machine regulates the amount of insulin going into his body at a constant rate rather than the one large does that he used to get with shots. He feels better now at 56 years old then he did at 30. The medical technology that they have today is amazing! I'll be happy to pray for your son, but if for some reason God doesn't remove the diabetic condition, tell your son not to worry. Embrace what the doctors tell him, ask questions, follow the advice, and life can be very close to what he has always known.

We'll say a pray for him!

God Bless you and your family.

Jay, I want to send this bit of information onto you. Sunrider has a lot of diet supplements that have and can help those with diabetes. My wife and I used them until other expenses came in the way like our family and we had to dicontinue using them. They really work, it's not a hoax or quackery.
The Calli (tea) helps the kidneys function which your son will benefit from, and the Nuplus (ground up roots) feeds the digestive tract. Once you're on their website just contact them and ask what would be best for your son's situation. Any questions just email me.

God Blees,
John

You have my prayers from a type 2 diabetic, I came down with type 2 a few years ago, mine tested at 436 and I'm on pills, don't take really like I should sometimes. Before I get talked too here about my situation, I'm am getting myself back on track too.
It's not something one would wish for but if you have to come down with something at least this is something controlable.

Prayers sent, also get another opinion doctors told my wife she had diabetes, had her on all kinds of drugs for two years with lots of bad results, we got another opinion doctor said she dident have diabetes and never had it, most insurance companies will let you get another opinion, we have great doctors in the USA but if they dont keep you coming back they cant make enough money to keep the out of control health system rolling.

About 5 yrs ago, James was diagnosed with type II. He lost about 30 lbs and we made diet changes. Here's what we learned.

Stop eating all "white" foods - white bread, white potatoes, etc. because they are high in carbs which the body breaks down to sugar. There are lots of good whole wheat products now - breads, pastas, etc. They taste different, but are good. You can even get whole wheat buns at the fast food places.

Switch to sweet potatoes. They stimulate the pancreas to produce insulin. More and more restaurants are placing them on menus.

There is a new sweetener on the market called Truvia. It can be found at most WalMart stores. It is made from the stevia plant. Its natural product, not a chemical. Because of its make up, the body does not absorb/digest it at all. It just passes through.

There is a website www.truvia.com. You can buy it online and they also have recipes and a conversion table to use this product instead of sugar. We haven't tried Truvia so I don't know about the taste.

You probably already know this, but diabetes can negatively affect blood circulation. Diabetics frequently have problems with their lower legs and feet. My father-in-law had special shoes because of his diabetes. It also seems to adversely affect eyesight.

I'm sure his doctor will give him the whole 9 yards of what he needs to do to get healthy again and stay that way. Just make sure he follows his dr's recommendations.

Please give a follow up post.

Count me in too Prayers sent,

My Wife found out 8 years ago she has type 1, on insulin twice a day for one kind , and if needed another before meals.

My thoughts are with you, your son, and your family............

BTW, my nephew was diagnosed with type 1 two days ago, so I can somewhat relate with you...........when his mother got him into the hosptial he wasn't far being gone...........

On the bright side he's now stabilized but will remain in hospital until early next week until the doctor is satisfied his sugars can remain stabil.............There'll definitely be some lifestyle changes and all of the family will need to be educated on how to deal with the disease..........

That being said, life will go on and that is the important thing!

Take care,

Glen

My prayers are with you. My number was over 600 when they discovered my diabetes 3 months ago. I take 3 pills a day and feel great. Strange fact: Before I became Diabetic I was Nearsighted and had to wear glasses and now I dont need them at all anymore.... Strange but true.
