How are they for field work? I tried an IH 45 1 time...plugged it up going across a bean field. I disk my cornstalks. Looking for something to help dry out my low spots. thanks

I had one when I still farmed. The cultivator worked good but the 3 bar drag on the back of it would like to plug some times.

IH 45 was better than the JD 1100. Better plan on upgrading a couple of generations to adequately pass thru corn stalks. Older Wil-Rich cultivators provide decent stalk thru-put and are reasonably priced.

JD 1000 and 1100 were dump rakes. Find an older Wil-Rich. In field cults, in general, the newer the better as far as trash clearance, but older Wil-Rich's were pretty good.

I agree with James. Untill you get to a newer machine with more than 4 rows of shovels they will plug.

That includes the harrowon the back. This harrow was designed for trash on the DMI along with the 5 rows of shovels.

It will go thru standing corn stalks that have had cattle on them without plugging. Never has it plugged in bean stubble or fall chiseled stalks.
