Somebody with a better memory than me, help. Does dipstick go into block, press fit or what. Somebody around here has got one they think is leaking or loose. Could it rust off. I forgot. Thanks for anyone can recall. Dave ps oil dipstick

Looks like the tube # 10110898 which is for a truck at $18.20 just goes into the block. I'd think some kinda sealer would be needed ? no seal is listed.

they are pressed in really tight. Just had modern one off. Thought it was screwed in but no, just pressed.

The dipstick "tube" is just a light press into the hole in the block.

If the tube is okay, just egg-shape it a little and tap it right back in the hole down to the lip.

Very simple arrangement.

By 1990, the dipstick tubes have a LONG tail that passes through the block and hangs down partways into the oilpan. They don't "tap in place" like the older ones did.

The fit loose in the block, and have a strap over to a manifold stud.

He can carefully yank it out, clean it up, and put a ring of silicone around it to seal it to the block.

I have a 90's 350 I just finished building up. The dipstick presses into the block with a screwdriver or drift and a small hammer. There is also a strap to the block up close to the head that helps hold it in and stablizes the tube.
