leyland 384 update

OK as many of you guessed its a bad pump. every thing inside the pump is rusted up when i drained it looked like muddy water. so no my hunt begins for a pump or pump parts i am going to remove the guts out of it tonight. does any one know of a place to buy rebuild kit for it. Simms id tag#P4801. would also buy a good used one. if you got one.

make sure you fill it with oil and change it when you do the engine oil a lot of them pumps went bad because people did not know they have there own oil reservoir

I thought it ran off the engine oil till I started pulling it off. should I run regular motor oil in it? my manual says fill with oil it just dont say what type of oil.

These tractor were designed to use 30w oil all over, even in the transmission... I wouldn't do it myself since the tranny oil feeds the hydraulic pump and would contaminate other tractors through the implements cylinders. Indeed the main fuel pump has a separate reservoir and many went bad from people not knowing about it.
