1800 Ollie leaking hyd oil into tranny

We have an 1800 Oliver that will pump or leak all the hydraulic oil from that system into the tranny housing causing it to leak out of the top of the tranny. How or where could this thing be leaking? Has no O/U on it, just a plain tranny. Thanks in advance!

I have had this problem occasionally over the years. It could be a bad pump seal. The pump is mounted underneath the hydraulic unit. Also might be the seal in the pan between the hydraulic unit and the transmission. The draft sensing rod goes through pan and the seal. You might also check this pan for any cracks.

When removing hydraulic housing make sure you
take out all bolts (especially the 2 long 3/8" bolts next to the filter housing.

as the other poster indicated, the pump under the cover is bad. If its a cessna gear pump, don't try to rebuild it. I understand many of that style could be changed over to a vane pump.

I had a bad pan on one of my 1850's. I do have some pans out back if someone needs one. I am not sure that the 1800 and 1850 takes the same pan. I bought 4 pans that were stacked together at an auction and was told that they would fit both. I brazed a patch on my bad 1850's pan before I bought these.
