John Deere 704 shredder........

I asked this a couple of days ago when the forum was having problems.

Does anyone know if a John Deere 704 7' shredder would be a single or double blade?

There's one coming up on an auction, and I just wondered if it would be worth driving 40 miles to the auction. A 7' with two blades would be ideal for my purposes.

The auction bill does say "704". They may have made an error.

And you're right. I Googled "John Deere 704" and didn't come up with a shredder.

Thanks for the response.

I'm with Jim. It likely it either a 709 or could be a 407. It's very easy to tell the difference. Both are 7' cutters but the newer 709 is a "unibody" cutter with no bolted joints in the cutter body itself. All joints are welded. The 407 is older with bolted joints. Hope this helps. Mike
