1928 Farm paper editorial and today's problems

A few people here might find this interesting. Not about the dairy farming focus - more about the lack of trust in having the government take over business of any kind. Very relevant to our country right now. If you find it boring - well . . . don't read.

From the Rural Newyorker newspaper, a weekly farm publication. This one is May 26, 1928.

It's amazing how easily people will give up freedom for what somebody "PROMISES" is security.

That's for sure. Every country in the world where starvation is rampant is under the control of a tyrant.

I'll tell you something Tom. There are 2700 people in this community who believed for all their working lives that all they had to do was pay their union dues and vote for nnalert and they would be GUARANTEED security. Ask any one of them how THAT worked out for them. The UAW left town with their dues money before the factory doors even closed.

Nope, this is nnalert run and Union controlled Michigan. Home of the auto industry and the UAW. I'm not even going to argue this subject with you lefties. Isn't it nice that you still have the FREEDOM to sell your soul and give up your freedom if you want to. I choose not to.

"I'm not even going to argue this subject with you lefties"

I'm not one of those, but if you're not arguing why are you answering?
I wasn't arguing I just asked a question.
But, since you brought it up, couldn't Detroit have went on another hundred years if not for things the Repugs screwed up that are out of Detroit's control?

Any man who would give up a little freedom for security deserves neither AND WILL LOSE BOTH.

you can blame the unions and all the government regulations pushed on them.
some of them were needed most weren't. most of this bs happened way before George came to office so don't go blaming him for what jimmy and billy did.
