How about Red Berry and Georgeous George?

I bought a new herd bull back in October and named him Georgeous George. His hair is the wrong color to represent Gorgeous George, but he's a might fine looking registered black Angus bull.

Tom in TN

I remember "Haystacks" My buddy's dad knew him when he was younger and kept in touch with him after he retired. His dad was born without thumbs but that didn't slow him down any. When an inspector came through the factory where he was working, he laid a fake thumb filled with ketchup along side his hand, waited till the inspector was next to him, glanced at him and proceded to smash it with a ball peen hammer. The inspector fainted dead away.

If you're in TN, it oughta be Sputnik Monroe, Rowdy Red Roberts, the whole Welch clan, the whole Fields clan, Billy Wicks, Tex Riley and Len Rossi, the Medics, Von Brauners (sp).......this could take all afternoon............

sat. night supper was hot dogs one week, hambugers the next. mom shopped at the a&p on sat. mornings and she always bought a carton of colas (6) for supper. sat. night tv was gun smoke then wrestling. neighbors would come over for coffee and cigarettes, milk and oreo cookies for the kids. rowdy red roberts was the one mom disliked so much becaused of the way he would strut around.

Years and years ago I worked in the steel mill with a fellow by the name of "Sugar" Sharber.

He was bigger than Haystack!

One day somebody stole Sugar's new pair of overalls that he left in the change house.

"Sugar" was asked if he was going to kick some a$$ when he found the thief.

He answered "He11 no, if he's big enough to wear my overalls, I'm not going to **** with him!"

Don't you love the old stories? People of my (and earlier) generations grew up listening to the old people talk; that's what they did for entertainment and the kids would gather around the front porch (seen, but not heard) to listen. That's gone away due to TV, air conditioners and different lifestyles.......

That is one of the good things about having a family reunion.

All the cousins can get together and tell/hear stories about their grandparents.

The younger ones really enjoy the stories as told by their grandparents.

Know an oldtimer who used to be called "Terrible Ted" with Stampede Wrestling in Calgary, I know he was a RCMP member at the time. Must have been back in the 60's or 70's. Always wondered if he was a good guy or a bad guy.

Left off a guy I met on the job. He was a Chicago type and used the name Mad Mongol. Sammy showed me the bullet hole in his back he pick up in Korea. That is another story for another day.

Oh Yes, I remember Russ "Pappy" Davis coming from the International Ampitheater in Chicago. My favorite wrestler was Verne Gagne but Lou Thesz held the title more I believe. Of course there were many more wrestlers...Of the villans, Hans Schmitt was the most hated as I remember. Ol' Russ was really pretty good, his discriptions were as colorful as the "contests"....sometimes better.

I remember Ol "Dick the Bruiser" who lived in Indianapolis. Not so much from watching wrasslin, but he lived a block away from my grade school and we always saw him driving in a big old grey Cadillac that sagged real bad on the driver side. That poor old car looked like it would scrape the driver side rocker panel every time he turned right. Saw him tip up a bottle several times while driving also!
