What is DirectX 9 software for? And how do I find out if I already have it? I"ve done a Windows file search and didn"t find it. Thanks.

Directx is a set of software libraries from Microsoft that generally assist in gaming programs in the areas of sound and video.

You can click on start, run, type in 'dxdiag' and OK and find out what revision you are on.

You most likely already have it on there (it isn't a standalone program that is easily identified), but here is a link in case you truly do need to download it:

Windows XP edition..........

DirectX is a diagnostic tool for problems with a video or sound component.
Use the System Information command in System Tools to access.
click on the Display or Sound tab , then click Test button to check your system.

to check what version, plus a lot of other stuff:

click "START"
click "Run"
type in "dxdiag"
click on "system Tab" if not already there
DirectX version will be at bottom
