hey guys i have an Allis Chalmers ca i restored last winter its now having a big problem it will start and run but after running it will sputter and its because the spark plugs get a black coat on them and they stop sparking. I then have to clean or get new 1s. If any1 knows how i could maybe fix it please let me no

Sounds like you have a very rich mixture. Could be a carb adjustment, Plugged air filter, or choke not working right.

Do you have a thermostat in it? A cold running engine will foul plugs. A plugged air cleaner would make it run lean due to the bowl vent in the carb being in the air inlet. I run AC Delco R-45"s in mine and keep the shutters on the radiator closed until the temp comes up. A cold running engine builds sludge quickly in the crankcase. Don"t waste your money on Champion"s. If you can"t find Delco plugs, Autolite 303 is the equivalent.

How the spark?? If its a yellow in color that is weak and can cause you problems. It needs to be a blue/white spark and jump a 1/4 gap. Plugs could also be to cool and cause that or the carb is set to rich

I have just rebuilt a 152 cubic inch slant 4,
from a 1965 IH Scout, (1/2 of a 304 V8) and it
does that, but I think the rings haven't seated
yet.
