Thinking about purchasing a New Holland 472 to pull with my Ford 3000. I have never pulled a haybine with a 3000. Will fourth gear be too fast and limit me to only 3rd gear? I have 14.6 x 28 rears. For those of you that have used a 3000 on a haybine, how did you fair? Thanks!

My neighbor runs a NH 488 behind his 3600 all summer. Speed is more dependant on the crop and condition of the sickle and guards than horsepower. Should be able to go in 4th if all is in good order.

Depends on the condition of the haybine and how many speeds the 3000 transmission has. They came with 4, 6, 8, and 10 speeds.
