loader hydraulic issue

about a week ago i plummed my woodsplitter into the hydraulic system on the loader off the front pump sence it is a 18/20 gpm pump and it works fine plenty of speed and power. but after about 20 minuets of operation it starts puking hydraulic oil out the top of the vent.the vent is located on top portion of loader frame this is where the oil reservoir is located.it will spit out so much oil that the system gets so low on oil the woodsplitter and the loader will hardly work anymore due to not enough oil in the system anymore.the only thing that comes to my mind is the vent is plugged up letting it build up pressure and pushing out the oil am i missing something here what do you guys think is going on thanks RICK.

I bet after 20 minutes of log splitting, that oil is rocket hot. I've seen it happen before. Oil gets so hot that it'll literally blow it's top. It's a great idea, but I doubt the front pump was designed for the continual use of the splitter. Next time you run it, stop every 5 minutes or so and feel the cylinder or pump. You can plumb in some kind of oil cooler if you need to.

At a Co. school one time, was told of a loader that would do that. They found a restriction in the system.
The loader would raise OK, but when lowering, the restriction would act like a check valve, and caused air to be drawn in past the packing. after a while the system seemed overfull. (the oil was foamed) let it set a while, the oil would go down, the air went up and out.
If your pump can't get all the oil it needs, and there's a chance of air getting in, foamy oil would seem to be overfull.

That's moving a lot of oil at pressure. Is the oil getting hot?
Usually a 20gpm system uses a 20 gallon reservoir for cooling and time for the oil to de-aerate

Slow the tractor down and see what happens. As the oil gets warm it will expand and raise the level. A cooler in the return line might help. Dave
