I have had good luck removing vinyl decals with a hair dryer or heat gun on low. Just warm the decal up a little and pick up an edge and it should pull off. It doesn't take much heat, just enough to warm the adhesive up so it will release. I would think this would work on the mylar type also but I don't have much experience with them. Also, The ones I have removed were fairly new, not old, dry or getting brittle.

Yes, that method works quite well, and a dab of rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth will take care of any residue after removal.

Once you get them off with a heat gun get some adhesive remover from the hardware store or Napa. It'll remove the residual adhesive without harming the finish. It should remove the decal if you soak a rag in it and hold it on the decal for a minute or so. Wear nitrile or rubber gloves because it'll dry your hands out BAD! And don't breath much of it either. I used it just the other day to take off the remains of the 4X4 decals on the side of my work truck. ...Randy

You can use an eraser that you put in your electric drill. It can be bought at the parts house. It won't harm the paint. it's about a 1/2" thick and 3-4" in diameter. Works great. It's made for removing decals.
