Vehicle has 94K miles. Problem is transfer of trans. fluid from transmission to transfer case. Dealer has replaced seal twice after warranty explired. Local mechanic suggested I just watch the fluid level and add as necessary then drain the excess from the transfer case periodically. According to the dealer Ford does not offer a fix for the problem. Any suggestions out there appreciated. Thanks,

If the dealer fixed twice then the same guy may have did the fix twice, and he may be putting the seal in backwards.

I think you are using the wrong terms. The Ford mechanic has WORKED on it twice - he has yet to fix anything. I had to explain the differance to autobody shop once - much to their displeasure. The fact that they spent a bunch of time on something and failed to accomplishing anything wasn't my problem.

I pay a service tech to FIX my vehicle, I can WORK on it for free in my own driveway.

tlak may be on to something. If the seal is in the wrong way, or if the rear bushing is loose in the trans, too much fluid ends up in the area between the trans and T case. My old Explorer used to do that until I replaced the seals. I only had to do mine once.
If I were looking at it, I would look closely at the rear trans bushing and input bearing on the transfer case.

You are correct in that it was the same mechanic that replaced the seal both times. I think I will order the seal per there repair ticket and have our current mechanic do the job one more time.
What I was attempting to determine is if this is a common problem with this model. I also have a 1998 Ford 150, 4WD and a 1999 Ford ranger 4WD. Either of these have ever had oil added to the transmission.
