Belarus 825 Starter Wiring

I have a Belrus 825. I would like to know how to test for voltage at the starter. There is a single small wire connection and another connection point with two large connectors attached.

Also, When this thing used to start I remember the clutch pedal had to be pressed in order to engage the starter. When I place a meter on the starter and turn the key the voltage fluctuates whether or not I have the clutch pressed.

Can anyone tell me where the safety switch is for the clutch? There is also one for the shift lever but I believe this one is fine. I think there must be another one for the clutch somewhere.

Thank You

My 562 has only safety switch on gear shift, if yours has one on clutch it should be around the pedal somewhere that the pedal or linkage makes contact. Check voltage on starter solenoid, first on cable from battery. Then with switch engaged check the lower cable, should be same voltage as upper cable. If not check for power from switch to solenoid. If no voltage bypass neutral safety switch and see what happens. Be careful and don't get run over. OK, if there is voltage on battery cable to solenoid, voltage to solenoid from switch and none to starter motor from solenoid the solenoid would be bad. Voltage to starter but doesn't run=bad starter.

your tractor is 24V starting. there is a series parall switch in battery box. there is a fuse in bat. box looks like a flat piece of metal mounted down with screws make sure that is good.

I have an 825 also. I always considered the belarus theft proof-no one else around here can figure out how to start it!
I have never had starter problems, but I have had "starting" problems.
1. battery conections have given me the usual problems. (if you are lucky they will last 5 years)
2. that black box between the batterys WILL give you problems, that is the relay that gives you 24 volts to the starter. If I know my batterys are good I will check this first.
3. That main switch beside the seat has to make good contact, lately that has to be rotated a bit during cranking to make good contact.
4. the shift levers have to be in the correct posistion, and the throttle moved a bit forward.
5. I always step the clutch pedal down, out of habit, when starting. I don't know if it has a safety switch on it or not.
6. My russian is a good tractor- my biggest headaches is the wiring conections and switches. How ever, it has never quit generating. I have had to replace the plastic fuel lines too.
good luck

I'm still working on this Belarus 825 Starting problem.

The 825 still will not start and I'm hoping someone can give me a clue on what to do next.

This tractor was running in the Fall. I found that the relay had blown a fuse. I replaced and cleaned everything up (Battery terminal, copper connections, ground switch connections, etc.) and tried it. The voltage at the Old selonoid was 12V and jumped to 24V when the ignition switch is turned. Since there was absolutely no action or sound or any attempt to engage the starter I figured the selonoid needed to be replaced. So I ordered a new one.

I installed and tried - Same thing. Next, I load tested the batteries and found that the left battery (as you sit in the driver's seat) did not hold the load. I replaced that. Made sure both batteries were fully charged and tried.

There was 28 - 29 Volts at the selonoid but still absolutely not a click or any attempt to engage. One guy at the auto parts suggested "it's going directly to ground" but didn't elaborate.

I'm beginning to think I may have it wired incorrectly at the relay although I was careful to replace that with the original configuration.

Is there anything anyone can suggest? I've been working on this allllll winter.

As for the relay wiring, there are 4 connections on the right and 3 on the left as you look down from the seat facing the rear window.

Here's my layout:

Left closest to seat: Negative Battery terminal from right battery (facing rear window)
Left Small middle terminal : Green
Left Fuse terminal : Lavender

Right closest to seat: To Positive left (facing rear window) battery terminal
Right combo connection: Orange
Right Small standalone terminal: Red
Right Fused Terminal: White

The relay clicks and, as I mentioned, there is 24V at the selonoid. I measure accross the two large selonoid connectors and get 24V (28 Actual) when key is turned. I also get 24V from small terminal on selonoid and ground when key is turned.

Anything you can suggest would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank You

Bryan
