Air Compression

I have a 1952 John Deere A and was wondering how much air should be blowing out of the oil cap? There is oil blowing out around the beltpully assembly. It slinging oil all over the place. Is it possible that a breather tube is plugged? Any suggestions? The tractor starts and runs great. Thanks,Jason

Check the oil levels and see if you find the crankcase too full (fuel)...

It can happen..

There are times when you will see more than other times..low moisture days and days after the tractor has seen good hard use (crankcase dried out) will show much less..

The late model A uses a ventilator pump on the fanshaft, near the gov. housing for the crankase breather.. It may have broken.

Thanks for your help. I think we may have found the problem. We have noticed our crankcase is overfull with oil and our differential is low. Apparently the oil seal around the first reduction gear shaft is allowing oil from the differential into the crankcase. Seems a little odd but, all we can come up with. Oil is clear, no water and we have 110 lbs. compression on both cylinders. Do you have any more thoughts or ideas?
