I have a 1990 Chevrolet 2500HD 4x4. It has a 350 in it and a 4 speed manual transmission. When I take off from a stop the truck will start shaking when I let off the clutch and accelerate. It has been doing this for a while and is geting worse. The other day I was heading to work and going up a rather steep hill in second when it got to 30 mph the truck engine was speeding way up but the truck itself was not moving any faster. This sounds like to me maby the clutch is going out in it. What do you guys think?

I think you already know the answer to your question!

Feel the clutch pedal with it running and movine insecond gear. Push on the pedal gently and see if it slips with just 1/3" of pedal travel, it needs an adjustment. Adjust the mechanism looser to about an inch of travel before it feels hard to push down. If it has a hydraulic clutch, this might need a pushrod adjustment on the tranny to achieve the freeplay. If this does not help, the clutch needs to be replaced, I recommend a new pressure plate and throwout bearing, pilot bearing, and Disk. JimN

You probably got a little hot/burned smell, too, unless you were sealed up with the heater going.
If money"s tight, you can maybe get along with it for awhile by babying it as much as possible (any other route around your steep hill?) .
Assuming there"s no adjustment, or adjustment left, I can"t recall anything, offhand, that can be done, other than to keep loads on the clutch as low as possible. Good luck.

oh, and don't forget to have the flywheel planned,so that the heat cracks are gone, that will cause the "shaking"

Make sure that the engine's rear main seal isn't leaking oil. If it gets on the flywheel, it will also cause the symptoms you described. The transmission's input shaft seal could also cause the same problem.

Rock auto has clutch kits for <150 bucks. I'd do the rear main and the trans input seal while you have it open.
