I am contiplating buying an early 80"s for 1200 tractor. It has a front bucket, 3pt, and pto. I do not know much about tractors but this one is going for $3500. It is in real good cond., I think it is about the size I need and I know he has taken real good care of it. Any thoughts?

It sounds to me as though it's well overpriced.
There's nothing really wrong with the tractor that I'm aware of, but it is of a generation of jap compacts that NewHolland would sooner forget... and the parts department is forgetting them.
Common stuff is available, but I think you'll find that a lot of things are getting tight in supply and quite expensive.

Those kind of tractors need to be throwaway cheap... so figure out what you consider 'throwaway', and go from there.

On the other hand, hard to find any tractor & loader for under $3000, so the price doesn't sound too bad to me if it is really in good shape. It's real small, but it will do some work.

Does it have 4wd, and how good is the front axle drive? If those break, it's $5000 to fix, if you can find the parts. Lkikely you can't. So don't get took buying one with a bad front axle.
